The Myopia Driving Club had a very busy summer! Here are just some of the events in which our members participated.
In late spring, the MDC kicked off the show season by organizing the Myopia Carriage Classic. This pleasure show was held at a new venue, the historic Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm in Newbury, Massachusetts.
The club was proud to honor the memory of Muffy Seaton, whose driving expertise, teaching skills, and sense of humor touched thousands of lives. The Muffy Seaton Memorial Award was awarded to the whip who exhibited the best reinsmanship at the Carriage Classic: Keith Angstadt.

Huge thanks to all of our volunteers, as well as judge Dave Remley and his wife Cindy! Show proofs from Myopia Carriage Classic are available here from photographer Shawn Tinkham.
This summer, MDC club members could be found driving their equines all over New England! These are just a handful of highlights—
Thanks to the hard work of fellow club member volunteers, Pam Stone and Kim Porter participated in several Lafayette 200 events this year, and Pam continued her historical streak by driving her horse Blue in the Quincy Flag Day Parade in full period costume, with Blue put to the city’s beautiful doctor’s buggy.
More teamwork was on display at events like New England Morgan, where club member Kate Cabot’s young Morgan Boom was driven by both his owner and trainer Kaylee Angstadt while Susie Wong acted as groom.
Several club members competed at Orleton Farm’s annual pleasure show. The show was the debut of the “minicorn” driven by Kaylee Angstadt, consisting of Susie Wong’s VSE pair Wicked and Jewel plus Ellen Attridge’s VSE Soxie!

In August, many club members participated in the GMHA CT/CDE!

Labor Day Weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, and the club celebrated with a barn party potluck hosted by Pam Stone.

We look forward to more events this fall, including a driving trial play day, a Halloween drive, and a driving demo at the Topsfield Fair!
